What a location page should and should not claim
A great many law firm websites carry dozens of near-identical suburb pages, each one the same text with the place name swapped. They exist to catch searches rather than to help anyone, and search engines treat them as doorway pages. We have deliberately not done that.
The pages below exist because each has something genuinely different to say — a different court, a different mix of matters, or in Kenmore’s case because it is where we actually are. If your suburb is not listed, that is not a signal we cannot act for you. It means we did not have anything to tell you about your suburb that we were not already telling you about the courts that serve it.

Where matters are heard, by area

Brisbane local government area
Kenmore, Indooroopilly, Toowong and the rest of the western suburbs fall within it. Criminal, traffic and protection order matters go to the Brisbane Magistrates Court; indictable matters to the Brisbane District or Supreme Court.

Ipswich
A separate local government area with its own Magistrates and District Courts, so matters arising there are ordinarily dealt with locally rather than in Brisbane.

Family law, anywhere in south-east Queensland
The Brisbane registry of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Family law is Commonwealth jurisdiction and is not dealt with by the Queensland courts.

Employment matters, anywhere in Australia
The Fair Work Commission conducts most conciliation conferences by telephone, so distance is rarely an obstacle. The twenty-one day time limit is the real constraint.

Neighbourhood, tenancy and minor debt disputes
The Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, which sits in Brisbane and regionally and deals with many matters on the papers.

Do you only act for clients in Brisbane?
No. We act throughout Queensland, and in Commonwealth matters such as family law and employment we act Australia-wide. The area pages on this site exist because each has something specific to say about the courts serving it; if your suburb is not listed, it does not mean we cannot act for you.
